In 2005, on one of our medical mission trips to St. Vincent, we met a six-year-old boy named Devin Richards who was born with deformed legs and unable to walk. All his young life he was forced to walk on his knees.
Through the help of CAMEO, corrective surgery was arranged for Devin at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and was performed by Dr. Donald Dewey. He was then fitted with prosthetic legs made and donated by Goeff Hennen of Hanger, Inc.
After several months of therapy, Devin was finally able to live his life long dream - to wear a pair of Nikes. Devin returned to St. Vincent using a walker BUT proudly wearing his Nikes.
CAMEO was able to send a large container of much needed items to the island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines after the devastating eruption of the La Soufriere volcano in April 2021.
CAMEO responds to the needs of the residents of Haiti after a catastrophic earthquake rocked the island in January 2010. We were able to ship much needed supplies to them.
Joining forces with Food for the Poor, CAMEO was able to donate medical supplies to Jamaica. These included several wheel chairs, walkers, and crutches.
